FLY Gives Back
Fire Life Yoga is committed to making an impact in the York community by offering our time and resources to serve others. As we launch our small business, we are working to identify areas where we can make a difference. Here are some of our initiatives for 2023:
AUGUST 2023
York City United Back to School Resource Fair
In partnership with the City of York and the York City School District, FLY participated in the Annual Fit Fair. The purpose of this event was two-fold: to promote wellness to the York City community and to provide school supplies for students as they embarked on the 23-24 school year. We look forward to continued collaboration and future opportunities to promote health and wellness in the greater York community.
October 2023
Youth Empowerment Summit
On October 12, 2023, FLY participated in the 2023 YES! Youth Empowerment Summit presented by the York County Public Library at Penn State York. FLY instructors Ashana and Maisha led 20 students from across York County through a 45-minute hatha yoga practice and guided breathing and meditation. The purpose of this session was to help teens realize the importance of deep breathing to relax and reduce stress. We also discussed the benefits of yoga, including enhanced balance, focus, and mobility.

West York Borough Annual Halloween Pumpkin Walk and Festival
On October 28th, FLY joined the West York Borough in the festivities at the 4th Annual Pumpkin Walk and Festival. During the event, FLY Instructor, Maisha led Meditation Magic in her portable Hot Yoga Dome. This mobile studio provided the perfect space for children and adults alike to experience the benefits of guided meditation during the event. Maisha assisted more than 50 participants in their meditative journey that day. Outside of the dome, Ashana and FLY Yogi, Greshina replenished candy and healthy snacks in the ALOHA themed trunk for Trunk Or Treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the community connections made during this event, and we cannot wait for next year.

FLY Angel Tree
This holiday season, FLY committed to spreading joy to children in our local community this holiday season. We partnered with local York community members to connect us with families in need and launched our first FLY Angel Tree. Through an anonymous process, FLY Members and Friends of FLY selected items from the tree or provided donations to purchase gifts for the children. We have served nine children this holiday season, and we look forward to having an even bigger impact next winter. Thank you to everyone who participated in this endeavor.
